Full-Time Staff Physician, Medical Director Newport Recovery Center

Dr. Rafael Penunuri is our full-time staff physician and has over 20 years of extensive experience in detoxification and general family practice.  He has been a trusted doctor in the Southern California medical community since 1985, and is board certified with the American Board of Family Practice since July 1985.  Dr. Penunuri is a graduate of UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Ehsan Gharadjedaghi, Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Ehsan Gharadjedaghi, Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Conducting individual and group therapy sessions with residential substance abuse clients. Individual therapy sessions take place three times per week per client. Group therapy sessions take place two times a day with focus on various topics including processing, positive focus, family dynamics, interpersonal effectiveness, psychotherapy, meditation, life skills building, and communication skills.



Debbie Powers
Debbie Powers, MA, LMFT, NCAC IDebbie Powers is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with a speciality in working with dually diagnosed clients and their families. Debbie is a National Certified Addiction Counselor (NCAC I) under NAADAC Certification Commission and a Certified Yoga Instructor. Debbie has dedicated many years working as an addiction family therapist. She is certified as a SAP, Substance Abuse Professional under the Department of Transportation, and CAS, Certified Alcoholism and other Addictions Recovery Specialist through CAARR.Debbie is a distinguished member of the American Marriage Family Therapist Association, California Marriage Family Therapist Association, National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors and the California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources.Debbie is a graduate with two master’s degrees, one from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo specializing in Education and another, from, National University in Counseling Psychology. Her areas of expertise include drug and alcohol addiction, depression, anxiety, dual diagnosis, and other addiction issues. She is very passionate about combining mindfulness yoga therapy techniques with traditional cognitive behavioral and gestalt methods.

Debbie Powers, LMFT is a humanistic solution-focused therapist and interventionist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.



Julie Belmont, CHT, Hypnotherapist and Certified Holistic Life Coach, CLC

Julie Belmont is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, specializing in Eriksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP,(Neuro Linguistic Programing.) She utilizes Time Line Therapy® to remove blocks or triggers from the past to facilitate an easier path forward and away from active addictions. She has an extensive background and experience in the alternative healing arts. She soothes patients with relaxation techniques and visualization. With the relaxation of the unconscious mind she’s able to tap into the roots of the issue which may be masked behind the addiction.

As a Holistic Life Coach, she develops an ongoing relationship which helps patients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. The Holistic approach in dealing with the overall, Mind, Body and Spirit produces lasting positive changes in the individual’s sober life journey. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance and enhance their quality of life. Julie listens intently in order to assess the particular issue, gives tools to shift consciousness and create a conduit for recovery and healing potential.
As their coach, she looks at the client’s natural gifts, talents, personality, abilities and inclinations to bring the positive drive to the surface and motivate them to ignite their passion and purpose. Once this is clear

Yvette Sweet, TADAC 12-Core

Yvette Sweet, TADAC 12-CORE, Chemical Dependency Counselor

Yvette has worked in the Chemical Dependency for several years. She has a degree in Social Science and has completed the TADAC 12-CORE Function course in Tennessee. She is currently working on her certification in Hypnotherapy to incorporate into her specialized sessions with each patient and their individual needs in modern Counseling/Personalized Coaching. In addition to healing and calming the mind, Miss Sweet achieved her National Certification for Massage Therapy/Chinese Medicine in 2008. She is a gifted Holistic Healer as well as one of our dedicated seasoned Counselors.

She is passionate about Recovery and has been clean & sober herself since 2000. She has dedicated her life to helping others become the best they can be. She shares the winning principles of 12 programs by taking patients to meetings and conducting in-house meetings to those in detox.

Yvette shares her loving spirit in all that she does. She brings an upbeat attitude and willingness to make all of feel blessed by her presence.

 

 


 Krystle Belmonte, Domestic Goddess

Krystle Belmonte, House manager

Every successful business needs a house manager like Krystle. She works to keep the facility at its best, the clients comfortable and cared for and both the clients and the staff in good spirits with her uplifting smile. She has a gift for organizing and making sure all individual needs are met.

She is self-motivated and enjoys the diversity of the job, from housekeeping, gardening and even cooking on the chef’s days off. Coordinating the facilities necessities is her priority, and making sure the pantry is full. She has also been known to fix an appliance or two in her daily routine. All in a day’s work, she’d say.

Her positive attitude helps the healing process for all.
